BOOP! OR, HOW TO MAKE A CUSTOMER SUCCESS VIDEO IN FIVE WEEKS (DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC)

Challenge:

Demonstrate, via a cultural case study, that the most innovative companies like Meow Wolf use Google Cloud plus SADA.

  • Speak to the tech / disruptor audience.

  • Interactivity + fun should come through in the interviews.

  • Create something fast-paced—not a boring corporate video.

  • Let viewers experience the sights + sounds of Omega Mart in Las Vegas.

  • Five week turnaround + everything must be shot with full Covid protocols at the height of Delta.

  • Video will headline the Google Next gathering, where Meow Wolf + SADA will be awarded partners of the year.

Solution:

I headed the team that pitched and sold this project to our clients. Then I lead the team in developing a brief, so that we could be aligned and move quickly. Not always easy with two clients.

  • We used a talking points matrix—instead of a script—to facilitate spontaneity while setting up pre-approved guardrails.

  • Kept the team small, using the content creator / single shooter model.

  • Developed simple treatments so Meow Wolf and SADA could flex their tech.

  • I scouted the location and mapped key visuals to capture during the two hours (!) we had to capture everything.

  • Worked remote with my edit and animation team to deliver everything on-time to Google Next team.

Result:

The video was a hit at Google next! Both our clients won awards.

Our video simultaneously revealed Meow Wolf as a creative utilizer of cutting-edge tech, and showed how SADA can bring the power of Google Cloud to hip, boundary-pushing cultural organizations.
